it's christmas time

We put up our Christmas tree on the weekend and it looks great! I just love this time of year - the weather is warming up, longer days (sunset is not until around 9ish at night) and everyone is in full spirits with the festive season approaching!

We have a fake christmas tree (much to the disgust of my partner!) which is very traditional in it's appearance, but I think next year I might try something a little different. I enjoy seeing other types of Christmas trees and Christmas decorations and how they are styled - you can really get your creative juices flowing when setting up Christmas decorations. Oh, I just love it!

white house in daylesford

A couple of weeks ago my partner, Richard, and I went to Daylesford for the weekend. We had such a fabulous time - it is so pretty there. In fact, like always when we fall in love with a place (such as Daylesford), we starting thinking about buying a holiday house, but quickly remember we're still renting, so a holiday house is probably not a great idea!

It was actually in Daylesford where I came across the bird cages that I sell through iley!

Anyway, it was a last minute decision to go to Daylesford so I didn't get the accommodation I wanted, but I hope we go back soon as I'm dying to stay at the White House. Absolutely stunning! I love the bathroom and library - how cool!

What do you think?

dark rooms

A few days ago I blogged about my love for the Scandinavian "all white room" look, but I also have a weakness for dark rooms - if it is constructed correctly it can just look magical.

 How gorgeous are these chairs!!!

soho loft

I'm really loving the warehouse/loft look at the moment - the high ceilings, open space and clean lines.

The soho loft created by SPI Design is picture perfect. They they have successfully maintained the industrial elements of the loft, whilst still creating a chic, warm environment.

emily gilbert

I recently came across photographer, Emily Gilbert - her pictures are stunning - I cannot get enough of them. I particularly adore the the picture of the wooden sliding door - how cool!

beach cottage

The weather today was magnificent - I think summer has finally arrived!

I sat out in the sun for thirty minutes and I have consequently toasted (whoops). Clearly, my arms and shoulders have not been exposed to the sun for quite some time!

Anyway, this lovely weather has got me thinking....wouldn't it be nice to have a beach holiday house (oh, it's so nice to dream).

tumble weed

I recently bought a tumble weed from Texas. From memory, I bought two or three, although only one tumble weed passed through Australian Quarantine!

I'm still not entirely sure where I will put it. I assure my partner it looks good, although he's quite happy to throw it in the bin! At this stage, until I find a home for it on our apartment, it's sitting on a cabinet. Not ideal, as it's quite a large weed, but it will do for now!

Anyway, the below pictures are some inspiration - I'm determined to find a home in our apartment for my "ball of twigs"!

be still cushion available at iley

I am so excited - the Orissa cushion, created by Be Still Homewares, has just arrived and is now available at iley.

I have had my eye on this cushion for quite sometime and it is FINALLY in my hands! I just adore the flower pattern - so soft and so beautiful.

villa in greece

As soon as I found Villa Opheaus in the Elle Docoration Magazine (August 2010) I was straight onto their website to find out more about this amazing place.

I have been wanting to visit Greece for quite sometime and this villa has definitely cemented that desire!

Comprising of 4-5 bedrooms, all with ensuites, this villa would be ideal to stay at with a group of friends or family. Hmmmm....I wonder who would be interested in going!?
